IPL Treatments – Burlington

IPL treatments are a non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that improves skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage.   The Limelight Facial IPL is ideal for treating your face, neck, chest and hands with skin redness, tiny veins, or brown spots.  Acne scarring can also be reduced and improved with IPL.  Light (low contrast) brown spots respond very well to treatment.  IPL stimulates collagen production and can help rejuvenate your skin making it tighter and younger looking!

We can customize your Limelight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin.  It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect.  When the pulse of light is delivered, clients will experience a mild pinching sensation.  Gel is applied to cool the skin before treatments and the hand piece also has built in cooling to make it more comfortable.  One to three treatments are recommended to see results.   Additional treatments may be needed for excessively sun damaged skin or clients with rosacea.  Rosacea is a chronic condition and can’t be cured but its appearance can be improved.

Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red.  The treated area may be mildly swollen.  The dark spots will flake off or fade.  Diffuse redness or tiny veins will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.  IPL also stimulates new collagen resulting in smoother healthier skin.

IPL light based treatments are a much healthier and gentler way to treat your skin than invasive laser resurfacing treatments which can damage it.  Your skin cannot be tanned to undergo treatments and you must wear a broadband sunscreen before and after treatments.  This treatment is best for lighter skinned clients but if you have darker skin or melasma, we can recommend other safer treatment options for you.  We also recommend starting a good quality skin care program in conjunction with your treatments for the best results.
